Polyamide

Wondering all about polyamide? How to wash polyamide fabric? Is polyamide fabric washable? What is polyamide material? We've got all the answers and expert care tips, ahead!

Polyamide is a synthetic material used for a wide variety of garments. It is made from synthetic polymers, highly elastic, and commonly used for athleticwear and hosiery. Nylon is a common form of polyamide fabric. Polyamide in clothes is typically machine washable, though this may vary per manufacturer and garment type. Is polyamide waterproof? Some polyamide fabrics may display water-resistant qualities, though whether they are fully waterproof will vary per garment.

Before washing your polyamide item, be sure to check the garment's tag for any special manufacturer instructions. If the item is tagged as washable, follow our expert washing tips:

Pretreat

Always pretreat your polyamide garment for stains before laundering. We recommend pretreating stain-prone areas like collars and cuffs with Stain Solution.

This concentrated blend of enzymes helps to combat common stains during the wash for a beautifully clean finish. If it's the first time treating your polyamide garment for stains, always test first to ensure suitability.

Keep in mind some stains, like sweat, may show up over time. This is why it's important to pretreat unseen buildup with every wash!

Handwash

Handwashing is always the best and safest method for washing delicate polyamide or nylon polyamide items, such as hosiery.

Add Delicate Wash to a sink filled with warm or cool water. This enzyme-free formula is optimized for handwashing and features a light, citrus musk scent for an elevated laundering experience when washing polyamide items at home.

Submerge the polyamide item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute soap. Soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse.

Rinse well by running cool water through the item until the water is no longer soapy.

Do not wring. Instead, press the water out of the item before hanging up or laying flat to dry.

Machine Wash

More durable polyamide garments such as sportswear or jackets may be washed in your machine! Always check your tag first for any special instructions before machine washing your polyamide item. We always recommend protecting synthetic fabrics with a Mesh Bag when machine laundering to help avoid rips and snags.

Wash with Signature Detergent on the normal spin cycle with cool or warm water to achieve the deepest clean. Keep in mind some types of polyamide items may shrink when using hot water, so we recommend using only cool or warm. Wash with like colors and fabrics only.

Remove promptly once the cycle is finished to dry.

Dry & Finish

As with most synthetic fibers, we recommend air drying polyamide garments whenever possible to help preserve their elasticity and shape.

For a smooth finish, steam your polyamide item to lift any wrinkles once dry.
