How To Clean Every Single Type of Counter

Counteract dirt, grease, smudges, spots, and spills, on every type of counter (Granite! Quartz! Marble! Wood!) with our countertype cleansing roadmap.

Ditch the multitude of cleaners under your sink, and pick up our all-purpose Surface Cleaner instead! Created with surface-loving cleansers for a beautiful clean throughout the home, it tackles dirt, grease, and smudges with ease.

Marble

Maintain the luxurious look of marble by regularly wiping down with Surface Cleaner and a soft, clean cloth. This pH-neutral formula is suitable for natural stone and has a fresh, botanical inspired scent that blends eucalyptus with notes of lilac, jasmine, and oakmoss. The best way to avoid yellowing on marble’s sensitive, porous surface? Clean it regularly using Surface Cleaner and make sure to address stains and spills immediately.

To remove sticky or oily residue, saturate with a few spritzes of Surface Cleaner. Spray onto the residue, saturating the area, and let sit for a few minutes. Then remove by massaging with a Stain Brush dipped in hot water. The soft, natural bristles will lift spills and grime and maintain marble’s finish.

Quartz

Just like marble, sturdy engineered quartz countertops can be cleaned daily using Surface Cleaner! Simply spritz and polish using a non-abrasive, soft cloth.

Turmeric latte toppled over? Accidentally spill some balsamic vinegar? Dye-rich and acidic stains like these should be wiped away and addressed with Surface Cleaner ASAP to help prevent permanent marks. It's a good idea to protect countertops with a cloth or cutting board when working with stain-prone items.

Pro Tip: Avoid placing hot pots and pans directly onto quartz countertops, as this can cause heat marks and leave cracks in the stone.

Wood

Preserve the beautiful, rustic look of wooden countertops by regularly cleaning with the Laundress’s high quality cleanser. When properly maintained, wooden countertops are very long-lasting.

Avoid stains and water damage by promptly sopping up spills and food residue using a soft cloth. Regularly scrub wooden countertops down by spraying with Surface Cleaner and scouring with a damp, clean cloth. Always be sure to rub in the same direction of the wood grain to get things cleaner and ensure your most spotless finish. Once residue has been removed, run your dish cloth through hot water and rinse the countertops well. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Tile

From ceramic to porcelain, tile is easy to clean and also offers endless unique design options for you. While tiles themselves can be easily maintained using Surface Cleaner, porous grout can sometimes present a challenge. Revive grimy grout by cleaning with Surface Cleaner. Spray on grout and tiles, saturating the surface, and let sit for a few minutes. Using a scrub brush dipped in hot water, scrub to loosen residue. Spritz again with Surface Cleaner, then wipe with a clean, dry cloth.

Pro Tip: Regularly clean tile backsplashes, especially those above grease-prone cooking ranges, to avoid oil, smoke, and food stains with Surface Cleaner. For stubborn splatters, allow the formula to sit for a few minutes before wiping clean with soft cloth.
